Ok, so I may have gotten a little carried away at the end of the video but honestly, I’m just so freakin excited that I am learning this song! It’s one of my all time favs, and I know I say that each week, but the more I learn the song, the more I learn about Billy Joel and his style the more I fall in love with the song over and over again. I’m really happy with how this turned out.
Please let me know what you think and if there is anything I can improve on in the comments!

That song ought to be in some kind of hall of fame. It’s a classic.
Yes, this is a song for the human, by the human, of the human., I think. 🙂
Billy Joel, a man of the people 🙂
I’m sure it will be when he dies 🙁 hah
Awesome! I just love it when practice starts to pay off! Keep it up!
when it starts actually sounding like a song 🙂 thanks fire all your support!
Wow! I can’t believe you can play piano and harmonica at the same time. Will you be trying to sing and play at the same time. That should be interesting. It sounds really good. I love this song. Good Job.
thanks!.. but I was singing too, was it not loud enough?
No. The volumn was good. I meant, can you play the harmonica and sing at the same time? I want to listen to the original and see how “he” does it.
🙂 I don’t think it’s possible to play the harmonica and sing at the same time, at least not if you play the harmonica with your mouth. Watch for Mondays post to see how he does it.
wow! it was pretty good. I’m impressed that you can play sing and play the harmonica at the same time. I’d get confused. the volume on your singing was a little low but it sounded good.
Joe it took some serious time and practice to get the timing right with the harmonica. I’ll try to belt this out a bit louder this week though.
Wow, congratulations on this. My mom raised me on Billy Joel so I love his stuff, but I’ve never tried to learn piano man because I thought it would be too hard.
You’re an inspiration. I’d like to start playing more often, but I just don’t have the time in between writing a bunch of different songs.
Hey, it’s you that inspired me in part to start this whole project, so I should be thanking you! I learned the harmonica part of this song almost a year ago but never even attempted the piano part because I was so intimidated. I’m so glad I attempted it. Check back tomorrow for the last video update on Piano Man!
PS tell your mom she rocks!
