Special: Billy Joel playing Piano Man in 1975

I’ve had a couple questions about Billy Joel, how he plays, and Piano Man too so I thought I’d post my favorite rendition of this great song. This video is from 1975 and Billy has a ‘stache. I aspire to play just like him, but I think I’ll leave the lip warmer in the 70’s where it belongs.

In this video, the intro is partially cut off, and Billy is playing in a live studio audience. He takes the opportunity to embellish some of his versus and especially the solo. I love how it sounds but I’m playing his song from his original transcription which was before he added these embellishments. I’ll try and pull them off later but for now, it’s going to be as he originally wrote it.
