This recording completes the first month and first song of the Pianoing Challenge. While I’m shooting to learn 12 songs this year, I’m not aiming for perfection. I know I’ll still need work, as evident in this recording. Either way, I’m happy with how it sounds and can’t wait to get the second song underway!

Do you actually even use your sheet music once you learn a song or do you just memorize it? Very awesome job!
I do use it as a reference if I get lost or stuck (or have in the past), but mostly play from memory. I do it that way because I may not always have my sheet music on me when I find a piano. The hospital we stayed in last week when our baby was born had a piano set up in the lobby and I went and played when I could, mostly late at night which was pretty cool in itself…being in a hospital with no one around…but I couldn’t do that if I had to rely on sheet music, ya know?
Also, the one song I learned that I had to rely on the sheet music I can’t play anymore. I forgot the whole thing! (Chopin Prelude in E Minor)
