Hump Day Highlight: Rufus Wainwright

Today’s highlight: Rufus Wainwright

I’m sure you’ve heard the song in the video. It’s been called the Shrek even though it’s been around a lot longer than those films, but Rufus Wainwright’s version is just killer. I love how much feeling he puts into the performance. He does the same thing in all the other performances and songs I’ve seen him play and he is an awesome pianist. He even does a video with Dakota Fanning, when she was still a cute little girl.

  1. Personally, I love the Jeff Buckley version. But that’s guitar.

What’s great about a song like this is you don’t have to play it exactly. Once you learn the chord progression you can make it yours and people will know what song it is.

    1. *Video fixed!*
I like Jeff Buckley’s too, love the sound the electric guitar gives the song.

I’ve learned a really simple version of the song and you’re right, you can really do it at whatever level and in whatever way you want, that’s probably why there are so many versions out there 🙂 Such a great piece

  2. LOVE THIS SONG! It always brings tears to my eyes and tuggs at my heart. I don’t even know why. My favorite version in 4 Irish singers. I would love to hear you play and sing it.

    1. That will come soon enough 🙂

  3. LOVE this song!! Great highlight!
